Location: Reykjavik, Iceland

Spend a day exploring some of the incredible locations used in the hit TV series 'Game of Thrones' on this 8-hour tour from Reykjavik. With a professional guide leading the way, follow in the footsteps of the White Walkers at the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, visit  the breathtaking natural vistas of Lake Thingvallavatn. Then, reimagine one of the most brutal sieges in the show's history at Thjorsárdalur valley. Round-trip transport on a comfortable, fully heated coach is included.

Highlights:

  • Informative, friendly and professional guide
  • Instant Confirmation

Start your day with a pickup from your Reykjavik hotel, or make your own way to the prearranged meeting point to join up with your expert guide. Hop aboard your comfortable coach, and set off on a scenic journey through southern Iceland’s rugged terrain. As you travel, listen to your guide talk about the popular Game of Thrones TV series, adapted from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels.

After approximately 40 minutes on the road, arrive at the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park. Hop out of your coach at the gorge of Thingvellir, the stomping ground of the White Walkers and the trail that the savage Wildlings took across the north, to the Wall. Marvel at the fissure in the earth's crust where the European and American tectonic plates slowly drift apart, and take in the expansive Icelandic landscape that stretches around you.

Next, enjoy a brief stop for refreshments (own expense) before continuing on to Nesjavellir, the second largest geothermal power station in the country. While the location hasn’t been featured in Game of Thrones, the site is a highlight on any tour of southern Iceland as it is set amid the breathtaking landscape of Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest natural lake. Take a moment to stretch your legs and breathe in the fresh air and stunning scenery.

Then, head to Thjorsárdalur valley. Step out of the coach onto the site where a peaceful farming village was attacked by Wildlings under Tormund and the cannibalistic Thenns. As you explore the area on foot, be reminded of this bloody massacre.

Your tour then concludes back in Reykjavik with a drop-off at the original start point. On route, you’ll also see some of the awe-inspiring scenery that was featured in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Dee Dee was such a fantastic guide, so enthusiastic and made me laugh most of the day. She knew everything there is worth knowing and really made the tour. Saw some fantastic locations, right out of the series. Can't recommend enough!

Our guide Astor was very animated and entertaining in telling stories about the filming locations and some history about Iceland along the way. The scenery was beautiful. Three film locations were visited. We made a few extra stops to waterfalls along the way, and even saw a horse performance before heading back to the city. There were some long stretches of drive time before a few of the locations to sneak in a nap on a long day or enjoy more of the Icelandic landscape. There was no food or drink allowed on the bus, but the stops were frequent enough that is was not an issue.

Great tour, Dee Dee is a very knowledgable guide. It was a shame that we did not get better weather that day. We really enjoyed the monster bus too.

Great excursion. DeDe really knows her Game of Thrones and was so animated and fun. She had actual scene photos to show at each film location and the whole story to tell us as well. Well worth the trip and stayed off the beaten path to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Much better than I and #39;d actually anticipated. We went far off-road at points, to see some spectacular sights. The guide was great, clearly a massive fan and makes sure you and #39;ll see everything you possibly can. Highly recommended.

You don't have to be a Game of Thrones to enjoy the trip. We went to various sites where different noteworthy scenes had been filmed. We also stopped at a Icelandic horse training center and were able to pet the horses.. Both our guide and driver were excellent. Our guide was very informative about the geology of the area plus other interesting facts.

Great tour! We saw several Game of Thrones filming locations in the Reykjavik area with a knowledgeable and friendly guide. It was helpful that this tour was in the afternoon, which meant that I was able to fit it into my schedule instead of wasting my early morning arrival travel day.
